SAEPA AND IKHAMBI CARE JOIN FORCES FOR HEALTH CARE REVOLUTION

The South African Express Parcel Association (SAEPA) has concluded an historical deal with iKhambi Care Health Care Solutions to address the needs of its members, through the building of centres throughout the country providing essential primary and occupational health care services.

SAEPA and iKhambi Care Heath Care Solutions will provide the Wellness Express programme to all members. The programme focuses upon providing basic health care (primary health and occupational health) at a very low monthly fee. Membership is also open to family members at an additional monthly fee per person.

WELLNESS 4 SURE – VCT (Voluntary Counselling and Testing (Testing and counselling for HIV)
VCT encompasses testing people for HIV in order to establish the actual infection rate within South Africa for the purpose of business being able to project production levels and income for the future.

VCT includes three phases: Pre-test Counselling, Testing and Post-Test Counselling. Once the person has been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, the onus rests on the private sector and Government to supply treatment for all.

Government had been tasked with the objective to have all HIV Positive Patients on a sustainable treatment regime by the end of 2005 – this did not occur. iKhambi Care will render the services required within the private primary health care environment, involving all stakeholders in order to sustain and develop this system.

Costs: HIV Management is a costly process. The management of such patients require extensive health care, prophylactic treatment and curative treatment. The private sector in SA has not recognized the importance of keeping the workforce healthy and productive as of yet. The employer does not recognize the pending financial crisis that HIV/AIDS will most definitely cause within SA.

iKhambi Care has developed a model of health care by spreading the financial risk of all patients across the board. Most HIV Management Services Providers do not spread the risk, and base costing purely on the costing per head per month. Wellness 200 is the answer to this dilemma, addressing all levels of medical health care, including HIV Management.

WELLNESS 4 SURE – OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH

Occupational Health entails the screening of the employee based on standards and specifications outlined in the OHS Act of SA. The main purpose of Occupational Health is the identification of underlying health problems, as well as the identification of health problems that develop as a result of the employee conducting his/her normal duties.

  • Employee Medicals - All Health Centres provide annual and exit medical examinations.
  • Occupational Health Training – iKhambi Care trains first aid and occupational safety.

Benefits to the Employer include - Legal Compliance by the employer based on the OHS Act, the General Health of workforce is maintained and monitored and reduced absenteeism as a result of general health of employees being monitored and treated within the work space.
