SAEPA AND IKHAMBI CARE JOIN FORCES FOR HEALTH CARE REVOLUTION
The South African Express Parcel Association (SAEPA) has concluded an historical deal with iKhambi Care Health Care Solutions to address the needs of its members, through the building of centres throughout the country providing essential primary and occupational health care services.
SAEPA and iKhambi Care Heath Care Solutions will provide the Wellness Express programme to all members. The programme focuses upon providing basic health care (primary health and occupational health) at a very low monthly fee. Membership is also open to family members at an additional monthly fee per person.
Wellness 200
This is not a medical aid. Wellness 200 is a service package rendered by iKhambi Care in order to address the needs of the lower income groups within SA. Wellness 200 renders a pure primary health care service, and includes the dispensing of medication required once the patient has been diagnosed. It uses medical care as first line treatment. The main focus of PHC is health screening, early diagnoses and treatment of illnesses.
iKhambi Care identified the opportunity to render this service at a low cost based on the spreading of the financial risk across all signed on patients. Therefore the more patients visit Wellness 200 clinics the lower the cost of services become. iKhambi Care is in the position to conduct bulk purchasing, keeping the cost of medication as low as possible. iKhambi Care does not sell medication; therefore the treatment is rendered at cost.
By rendering these services in a controlled environment, the costing is controllable, based on the fact that iKhambi Care renders all services in-house by permanent staff members – keeping running costs low. The entire concept is volume driven.
The first benefit of Wellness 200 is that of return to investment for the employer. This is based on the decreased absenteeism rate, with higher productivity as a direct result. The second benefit to the employee is affordable health care – including care for the whole family.
